In
2005, the White House
and the Council on Competitiveness
called for
10 U.S. cities to rise up and become Innovation
Hot Spots
by
2010 according to the
National
Innovation
Initiative (NII). Launched
by Brainstorm Weekly on Sept. 10, 2008, Innovate
Tampa
Bay™
is a
grassroots movement that
answers
that call.
It's
vision is
to
transform the
Tampa
Bay Region into a globally recognized
Innovation
Hot Spot by 2015. Events
such as
the
Tampa Bay
Innovation
Forum™
and the annual
Innovate
Tampa Bay™Summit
scheduled
for May 7 - 8, 2009 will pave the way.
Here
are some reasons why Brainstorm Weekly and
other regional
leaders
believe that this vision is not only
possible but also probable:
Florida
-
The
#2 Fastest Growing Hi-Tech Hub in the
U.S.
-
The
4th largest Hi-Tech state in the U.S.
-
Has
the highest growth rate for Hi-Tech jobs
Tampa
Bay
-
State-wide
recognition as a Hi-Tech Hub
-
Strong
university system
-
Strong
presence in the Healthcare IT space
-
Starting
to shine in Marine Science Technology
-
Located
within the unbroken economic powerhouse
that
connects Tampa, Orlando and Miami (So-Flo
Mega Region),
which
is the 15th largest mega region on the
planet.
"Innovation
will be the single most important factor in determining America's success through the 21st century.
For
the past 25 years,
we have optimized our organizations
for efficiency and quality. Over
the
next quarter century,
we must optimize our entire society for
innovation."
